Surgery update
After being bumped up to 1st case this morning, Maddie left our arms into the Anthesiologist's at 7:30. We received our first page at 9 am that they were beginning the actual surgery. It takes a while for them to be put under anesthisa, on the ventilator, etc. Also it's quite a process getting through the sternum once a child has had open heart surgery before because of the scar tissue. Our second page was at 10:15 that Maddie was on bypass. In order for them to cut on the heart and stop blood flow to the lungs, bypass is necessary. This is her first time being on it, for the BT shunt, she didn't have to. Bryan and I are doing good- we felt a lot of comfort and were calm when handing her over this morning- no tears either! (I'd already taken care of that!) As I was sitting down to type this, our pastor came walking up! What a surprise to have him drive from Moses Lake to Seattle for this! We are truly blessed with such wonderful support and people rooting for Maddie. Thanks to you all for praying, please continue!!!!

Well it is 11:30 almost so hopefully the end is near. Maddie has such an amazing force behind her. How awesome of your pastor to show up, just goes to show God is hard at work for this little girl. So proud of both of you at how strong you are being. Prayers and good thoughts headed your way. Love, Randee
How neat that your pastor is there too. Maddie has truly touched so many people and we feel like she is a part of us in some way thanks to your wonderful updates and step by step procedure explanations. The boys and I have been praying (Dan too) and thinking about all of you all morning. I keep checking your blog in between laundry, watering and other housecleaning that we feel is so mundane, but you would probably love to be doing that right now just to have everyone home together. Chills are running throughout by body as I read your first update. Maddie is in good hands and will soon be back in yours. Hang in there, hopefully surgery will be over soon. So glad your Pastor could be there with you. Our prayers are with you today and everyday.
